Some of our personal favorite "Things to Do"...
Lighthouses (Bodie, Hatteras, Ocracoke)
Digging up Coquina Clams and Sand Fleas at the surf line
Boogie boarding
Ghost crabs at dark. (Bring a flashlight out to the beach at night...they're everywhere !)
Fish coming in at Oregon inlet (If the boats go out, they'll be back in and unload their catch around 4PM each day... They unload their catch at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center just north of Oregon Inlet bridge)
Turtle pond (at the Pea Island wildlife center)
Kayaking (in the surf and sound)
Birds at pea island (Large numbers of migrating birds winter here. You can see thousands of Snow Geese and Swans from Nov-Feb)
Frisco Native museum (In Frisco)
Day-Use area on the south side of Salvo. (there's an old hatteras style graveyard here and a small beach for wading)
General Stargazing and looking for Shooting stars...Just cross the dunes at night. If the sky is clear, and the moon isn't out...you can see forever.
